Prescribed burn in areas of Morro Bay State Park

If you see or smell smoke near Morro Bay State Park, don't worry, it's only a prescribed burn.

California State Park, Cal Fire and Morro Bay fire crews will conduct the burn in the park boundary areas of La Loma, Kings and Carmel Streets, and Lower State Park Road.

The burn begins Monday and ends March 31. The goal is to reduce dead and sick trees, and enhance the health of native plant communities.
