A prescribed burn has been planned between Monday, October 15 and Friday, December 28. The burn is set to burn about 200 acres in the western portions of Estero Bluffs State Park, as well as approximately 400 acres in Hearst San Simeon State Park near San Simeon Cr. Rd and Hwy 1.
According to the California Department of Parks and Recreation, the burn is part of a prescribed fire program for vegetation management. The burn is expected to improve the health of the native plant communities and encourage an increase in species balance.
