State Parks, CAL FIRE and Cayucos Fire Department are participating in a prescribed burn at Estero Bluffs State just north of Cayucos.
State Parks planned to do a prescribed burn of up to 600 acres of the Coast over the course of 10 weeks between Monday, October 15 and Friday, December 28.
The burn was set to for the western portions of Estero Bluffs State Park as well as in Hearst San Simeon State Park near San Simeon Cr. Rd and Hwy 1.
According to the California Department of Parks and Recreation the burn is part of a prescribed fire program for vegetation management.
The burn is expected to improve the health of the native plant communities and encourage an increase in species balance.
