New Research has linked processed meat to both cardiovascular disease and cancer.

A study of nearly half a million people found a person's risk of early death increased with the amount of processed meats they consumed.

People who ate a lot of processed meats also tended to eat fewer fruits and vegetables. Those same people were more likely to smoke and consume large amounts of alcohol.

Experts estimate three percent of premature deaths a year could be avoided if people ate less than 20 grams of processed meat a day.
