The Santa Barbara County Planning commission denied a project to drill for oil in Orcutt Wednesday.
The commissioners denied the plan due to greenhouse gas emissions.
The commission then voted to allow Santa Maria Energy, the company heading the project, to present a new environmental Impact Report and project plan in two months that will reduce those emissions.
The planning commission will then take another look and decide whether the project should move forward.
