February 10 to 16 is Preteen Vaccination Week, and the San Luis Obispo Public Health Department is urging them to get vaccinations.

Incoming 7th graders must get the TDAP shot before starting school this fall.

With whooping cough epidemics happening nationwide, the Health Department says there is no reason to wait for the new school year.

Dr. Penny Borenstein is promoting Preteen Vaccination Week.

She says, "Immunizations help foster a healthy life throughout their adolescent years and beyond."

Preteen Vaccination Week is to remind parents about the required immunizations.
