Athlon Fitness and Performance in San Luis Obispo joined a national fundraising event Saturday.
It was the "Push-Ups for Charity" event, which raises money for veterans. The timing is appropriate, since today is Armed Forces Day.
Participants were asked to get sponsors who would pay per push-up.
KSBY went to the competition to talk to the winners.
"A good push-up engages your entire body, like your core, your quads. I felt like I was pushing through my calfs even at the end," said Julie Dubrul, the winner of the women's competition. Dubrul was able to complete 64 push-ups.
"It's a friendly environment. We're not really here to compete. We're just here to have fun and raise money," said Steven Reed, the winner of the men's competition. He was able to complete 82 push-ups.
The event first started in 2010. Since then, it's raised more than $1 million for veterans.
