An emergency road closure is in effect at Santa Rosa Creek Road near Cambria as a result of the heavy rains over the weekend.

The San Luis Obispo County Department of Public Works says the rain damaged a drain seven feet in diameter on the roadway which is located about seven miles east of Cambria.

Public works says county crews will begin repairs along the road next week as long as the county gets the appropriate permits. Public works expects the roadway to reopen March 1.

Businesses along the roadway will reman open, but drivers may have to take an alternate route on either State Route 46 or Highway 1.
