LOS ANGELES (AP) - The California Highway Patrol says Interstate 5 through the Grapevine is closed because of ice and snow. To the east, Interstate 15 through Cajon Pass is open but the cold storm that blew through Ventura and Los Angeles counties early Friday is headed that way.
The National Weather Service says a winter storm warning will last until at least 10 p.m.
CHP officers and police throughout Southern California say the rain, hail, lightning and snow caused traffic crashes, spinouts and stalls.
In Santa Ana, police say a man was killed when his car slammed into a tree on a wet West MacArthur Boulevard around 2 a.m. The cause is under investigation to see how much the rain was to blame.
