LOS ANGELES (AP) Florida Marlins shortstop Hanley Ramirez has been removed from Sunday's game against the Los Angeles Dodgers in the second inning because of stiffness in his lower back.
Ramirez popped out to second in his only at-bat. The three-time All-Star missed Thursday's game at San Francisco because of a bruised right foot after getting hit with a pitch.
Ramirez is batting just .210 with four homers and 17 RBIs in 48 games. He hit .300 or better in each of the previous four seasons, topping out at .342 in 2009.
He recorded a career-high 106 RBIs that season and a career-best 33 home runs the previous year despite only 67 RBIs. His 127 home runs since the start of the 2006 campaign are the most among shortstops.
