Rapper takes on drug awareness

Students at Mary Buren Elementary School in Guadalupe got a special performance Friday. They learned about the dangers of drugs through hip-hop music.
Christian rapper MC Risk performed a special drug awareness concert for the kids Friday afternoon. The rapper, a Santa Maria native, says it's important to show kids how to have safe fun. "We're trying to make the changes that happened in our lives where we took negative into a positive, and we're trying to spread that to the kids and show them that you can party and have a good time and do all those things without drugs and alcohol," MC Risk said.
Counselors at the school say they hosted the event so they could also show students how to stay safe.
