Despite outhitting their opponents 13-10, the San Luis Obispo Rattlers lost 6-1 to the California Wahoos on Monday afternoon at Sinsheimer Stadium. The Rattlers committed six errors in the game, which led to several unearned runs allowed.
The Wahoos struck for three runs in the top of the first inning. Davey Casciola tripled to score the first two runs of the game. He later scored on a error by the third baseman on a ball hit by Cole Holloway to make it 3-0 Wahoos.
Sinjin Todd singled home Holloway in the sixth inning to make it 4-0. Holloway, a recent Nipomo High graduate, reached base on an error.
The Rattlers scored their only run of the game in the bottom of the eighth inning when Marc Flores doubled in Scott Shields to make it 4-1.
Santa Ynez High's Zach DeMarcus provided insurance runs for the Wahoos in the top of the ninth with a basehit to score a run. A second run scored on an error during the play.
DeMarcus led the Wahoos with 2 hits in 4 at-bats.
Flores and Charlie Sharrer collected 3 hits apiece for the Rattlers.
