Former Cal Poly All-American Asa Jackson may suit up for the Baltimore Ravens against Peyton Manning and the Denver Broncos Saturday in an AFC Divisional Playoff game.
Friday, the Ravens placed left guard Jah Reid on injured reserve with a toe injury. They moved Jackson onto their 53 man roster as a result. The rookie cornerback was on the NFL's exemption list after the former Mustang served a four game suspension for violating the league's substance abuse policy. Jackson reportedly tested positive for the unauthorized use of Adderall, which is generally prescribed to people with attention deficit hyperactivity disorder. A handful of NFL players were suspended this season for using the drug that is said to help provide an energy boost and focus concentration.
If Jackson is active on Saturday, his role will likely be as special teams contributor. He was on the 53-man roster all season before getting suspended and was active for three games. In the games that he did play, Jackson made one tackle. His role was on coverage units, and he also provided additional depth in the return game. Jackson was suspended right before Denver and Baltimore played in the regular season.
Jackson was a fifth round pick by the Ravens in the 2012 NFL Draft. He was a four year starter at cornerback at Cal Poly and is the only four-time All-Great West Conference First Team selection on defense.
Kickoff is set for 1:30 pm California time. It's predicted to be 18 degrees in Denver, but feel like nine degrees.
