The City of Pismo Beach says it brought in record-breaking revenues in hotel bed taxes in July.
It marks the third consecutive July the city has collected more than a million dollars in bed tax. For the month of July 2013, a total of $1,088,089 in transient occupancy tax revenues came in.
Pismo was also the first city in San Luis Obispo County to reach this million dollar milestone in a single month.
The tax is added to all bills for out-of-town visitors. That money collected goes toward city improvements, and to pay for advertising.
