A fire weather watch and red flag warning is in effect for the San Luis Obispo and Santa Barbara county mountains through Sunday evening. Winds out of the east are expected between 15-25 mph, peaking between 30-40 mph. The strongest winds are expected today. Widespread relative humidity is less than 10% with poor overnight recovery. Temperatures will max out in the 80's to low 90's, with the warmest day being Sunday. The potential impact could be rapid spread of a wildfire if one ignites. The low humidity levels, warm weather and dry conditions can create extreme fire behavior. This is the most significant fire weather threat seen in the past 5 years. Other potential impacts due to the wind are downed tree limbs and power lines, power outages, blowing dust and hazardous driving conditions.
