Rescuers searching for missing hiker near Pozo

A search and rescue operation is underway to find a missing hiker in the Pozo area off the Rinconada Trail.

It started when Cal Fire received a rescue call for a hiker who was swept into a creek just after 9:30 a.m. Sunday. When rescuers arrived, the hiker was sitting on the creek bank suffering from hypothermia. He and another hiker with him refused ambulance transport. That's when rescuers were told a third hiker left to find help once the person in the water was safely on the creek bank.

Cal Fire, the San Luis Obispo County Sheriff's Department Search and Rescue and other agencies are now searching for the hiker who left to get help.
