A new study suggests that aspirin may lower the risk for melanoma.
Researchers at Stanford University analyzed data collected from sixty thousand caucasian women who were followed for 12 years. They found those who took aspirin had a 20 percent lower risk for melanoma. The longer they took the drug, the lower the risk.
Aspirin use has also shown to lower the risk for colon cancer and heart disease. Researchers say more studies are needed before they recommend aspirin for routine prevention of melanoma.
