Residents blame construction project for Nipomo flooding

There are reports that a construction fence is to blame for some flooding Sunday in Nipomo. Some residents say a chain-link fence put up around a Safe Routes to School project caused the creek to back up, sending 18 inches of water into a nearby triplex.

The San Luis Obispo County Transportation and Planning Department is in charge of the project.

Officials say they will have to investigate and see what really happened. They say it's likely debris in the creek contributed to the flooding.
