Today is the ribbon cutting for the Central Coast New Tech High School in Nipomo.
The school is next to Nipomo High and has been in the works for more than two years.
Next week about 150 students will begin classes on August 16.
Teachers will use high tech teaching methods with project based learning, similar to Cal Poly's "Learn by Doing" philosophy.
The emphasis is on fields like science and engineering.
The ceremony runs from noon to 2:00 p.m. Thursday afternoon.
