The Righetti High boys and Arroyo Grande High girls won the Pac 7 League midseason cross country meet on Monday at the Fairbanks Course near Cuesta College. The 3 mile meet was postponed last Thursday due to the weather.
San Luis Obispo High senior Olivia Carmo won the girls race with a time of 19:31. She edged Arroyo Grande sophomore Jocelyn Reynolds, who finished second in 19:40.
"This is my first big win and it feels good I guess, I try not to think about the place and just the effort," said Carmo.
AG freshman Angela Gemignani finished third in 19:46. St. Joseph's Beth Rigali finished fourth in 20:12, while Paso Robles freshman Ashley Davis came in fifth overall in 20:21.
The Arroyo Grande girls finished with 45 total points, while San Luis Obispo finished second in the team standings with 54 points. Atascadero finished in third place with 69 points followed by Paso Robles with 81.
Arroyo Grande senior Trevor Cowan won the boys race with a blazing time of 16:16 to set a new personal-best on the course.
"I've been watching the older guys do it since I was young and it's really great to finally be doing what I was seeing them do," said Cowan, a four year member of the varsity team.
Righetti High sophomore Alec DeLeon led for the first half of the race, but came in second in 16:27. SLO senior Josh Ernst came in third in 16:33, while Righetti finished 4th and 5th with Orbanel Perez (16:36) and Conor McNamara (16:37).
Righetti finished first in the team standings with 40 points. AG came in second with 52, followed by Paso Robles with 60 and SLO with 90 points.
The AG girls and SLO boys are the defending league champions.
