Righetti comeback falls short, Warriors lose 4-3 at Bishop Amat in CIF

The Lady Warriors battled, but fell just short in their comeback bid on Tuesday. The Righetti girls soccer team lost 4-3 at Bishop Amat in a CIF Division 3 second round playoff game. The Warriors finished the season 13-6-1.

After trailing 2-0 early in the second half, Itzy Piñon sparked Righetti's comeback in the second half. She scored in the 53rd minute to make it a 2-1 game. The Warriors scored again just two minutes later to even it at 2-2. However, Kathleen Zamora scored the game-winner just two minutes later in the 55th minute for Bishop Amat.

Bishop added an insurance goal in the 71st minute to make it a 4-2 game. The Warriors put one away just six minutes later to get to within one, but they could not score the equalizer the rest of the way.

The Lancers took an early 1-0 lead when Nayeli Requejo buried a penalty kick in the 23rd minute. Jaime Peters made it a 2-0 game with a goal in the 45th minute early in the second half.
