In one of the strangest games of the season, the Righetti High baseball team overcame an early 7-0 deficit to rout Paso Robles 22-9 on Wednesday in a PAC-7 League game. The Warriors handed the previously undefeated Bearcats a loss for the second-straight day.
The Bearcats erupted for 7 runs in the first inning. The Warriors battled back to tie it 7-7 in the third inning.
Paso Robles regained the lead in the fifth inning on run-scoring singles from Eli Vargas and Matt Culp to take a 9-7 lead. The Warriors responded with five runs in the bottom of the fifth to take the lead for good and put it out of reach with a 10-run sixth inning.
Righetti compiled 20 hits in the game. Ryan Bendele went 3 for 3 with a two doubles, a triple, two walks and four runs scored.
The Warriors improved to 7-4 in league play, while the Bearcats fell to 6-2. Paso Robles falls two games back of first place and undefeated San Luis Obispo.
