A seven run-fourth inning powered the Crespi High baseball team to an 11-1 win over Righetti during day two of Righetti's 9th annual Spring Classic on Wednesday night at Elk's Field.
The Warriors, who were off to their best start since 2006, fell to 9-4 on the season and 1-1 at the Spring Classic. Crespi, a Division I program out of Encino, improved to 7-6.
Crespi scored a run in the first on a sacrifice fly against pitcher Troy Prober. The Celts added a second run on a wild pitch in the second and made it 4-0 in the third on a 2-run double from Nico Lima.
After Prober struck out the first batter in the fourth inning, ten-straight Celts reached base by virtue of seven singles, two walks and an error against Prober and Juju Trump. When the dust settled, the visiting Celts led 11-0. Prober left a few batters into the rally and was charged with 6 of the eleven runs.
Prober scored the Warriors' first run in the bottom of the fourth inning. After he led off with a single, he came home on a groundball from Cayce Rocco.
Righetti plays Buhach Colony on Thursday at 1 pm at Elk's Field. Both teams finished second in their pools at 1-1.
Paso Robles, which also finished second at 1-1 in its pool, plays at 10 am Elk's Field.
