Righetti's Brown in contention at All-Star golf event

Righetti High golfer Landon Brown is in contention at the Junior All-Star at Marshallia Ranch tournament.

Brown fired an opening round 74, to finish at two over par. He is tied for 8th place, six shots behind the early leader Lawrence Tu (68) of Irvine.

The Junior All-Star at the Marshallia Ranch Golf Course near Lompoc is one of 10 events in the Gary Gilchrist Golf Academy Junior All-Star Series for golfers ages 12-15. It is conducted by the American Junior Golf Association.

San Luis Obispo High's Adam Zakaria is tied for 35th at 8-over par, while Arroyo Grande High's Mtichell Martin fired an 11-over, 83.

The 68-player field features 53 boys and 15 girls from seven states, Argentina, Brazil and Canada. The Boys Division is playing the par-72 course at 6,712 yards.
