Righetti's Luke Wilson wins CIF Masters title at 152 pounds, 3 others qualify for State

Fresh off a CIF-Southern Section Central Division title at 152 pounds, Righetti High's Luke Wilson captured a title at the CIF Masters Meet on Saturday at Temecula. The Masters Meet pits the top wrestlers in the Southern Section against one another regardless of division.

Wilson defeated Crespi's Blayne Briceno 11-5 in the championship final on Saturday to secure the title. He automatically advances to next weekend's CIF State Meet in Bakersfield.

Wilson, seeded #1 in the weight class, received a first round bye at the Masters Meet on Friday. He beat Drake Moye out of Aliso Niguel 16-4 and pinned Alex Fuentes out of Chaminade in 1:58 on Friday. He opened Saturday in the championship semifinal with a win over Westlake's Amir Hassan to advance to the final against Briceno, the 2nd ranked wrestler in the Southern Section.

Wilson finished third at 145 pounds last year at Masters. He went on to medal at State with an 8th place finish. Briceno finished 8th last year at State at 132 pounds.

Eariler in the day, Paso Robles senior Kevan Garcia finished third in the 145 pound weight class to move on to the State Meet. Fellow Bearcat Colton Madrigal finished 7th at 170 pounds and Miguel Ruiz of Pioneer Valley finished seventh in the 220 pound weight class to also move on to State.

The top nine in each weight class qualified for next week's State Meet.
