The most decorated high school wrestler on the Central Coast this season is going to North Dakota. Righetti's Josh Rodriguez signed to wrestle and attend school at North Dakota State. The Bison are a Division-1 program, they compete in the Western Wrestling Conference. Last year North Dakota State was 6-9 in duals, 3-3 in the WWC.
Rodriguez won a CIF championship and finished third at state wrestling at 126 pounds during his senior season. Rodriguez then wrestled down a weight class at 120-pounds and won a Senior National Championship in Virginia.
At a signing ceremony at Righetti High School on Monday night Rodriguez said North Dakota State has been after him for more than a year and he feels comfortable with the coaches. "For my freshman year I'm going to redshirt and the next year I'm not sure if I'm going to go 133 or 125 (pounds) but I know I'm going to fit good over there. I'll be able to hang with all those guys" said Rodriguez.
North Dakota State is in Fargo and on the eastern border of the state next to Minnesota.
