A four run top of the first inning by visiting St. Joseph out of Lakewood was too much to overcome for the Righetti High softball team on Tuesday. The Warriors lost 6-3 in a Division 3 wildcard game.
The Warriors finished the season with a 19-9 record and a second place finish in the PAC 7 League.
The Jesters put runners at second and third with two outs in the top of the first when Jackie Ramirez singled home a run against Katie Chenault. Dominique Walker followed with a three-run home run over the left-centerfield fence to give St. Joseph a 4-0 lead.
The Warriors rallied back by loading the bases with nobody out in the bottom of the first. Chenault drilled a pitch to the right-centerfield wall to score Gladys Esparza and Tienna Silveira to cut the deficit in half.
St. Joseph added a one on a bases loaded walk in the third inning. The Warriors had a runner tagged out at third on a delayed steal attempt to kill rallies in both the second and third innings.
The good news for first year head coach Scott Nickason is his Warrior squad is young and loses only three seniors to graduation.
