Righetti water polo goes for CIF title Saturday

The Righetti High boys water polo team is one win away from its first CIF Division title since 2002. The Warriors, the #1 seed in Division 4, battles #2 Los Osos for the championship at 12:45 pm Saturday at the William Woollett Jr. Aquatic Center in Irvine.

The Warriors pulled out a thrilling 19-18 win in sudden death overtime over Cerritos in the semifinals on Wednesday. Los Osos overcame a 4-3 deficit in the third quarter with ten consecutive goals to beat Arroyo Grande 13-5 in the semifinals on Wednesday. Los Osos is 22-8 and in its third CIF final in five years. Senior Nick Bell led the Grizzlies with 6 goals against AG. Los Osos has outscored its opponents in the postseason 52-17 overall in search of its first CIF title since 2008.
