A riptide incident near Carmel is prompting a warning for swimmers.

It happened just before 6 p.m. Saturday at Monastery Beach.

Seven people were reportedly pulled out to sea by a riptide.

Luckily, waves eventually pushed the victims back to shore.

Still, emergency crews want to remind swimmers to steer clear of jetties and piers where there are permanent rip currents.

If you do get caught in a current, float or calmly tread water.

Never fight the current and wave your arms for help.
