New guidelines from the American Academy of Neurology advise athletes who have suffered a blow to the head to watch the game from the sidelines.

Athletes suspected of suffering from a concussion are advised to be removed from the game and should not be permitted to return until evaluated by a professional.

Younger athletes should be watched more carefully as their recovery takes longer. Headache, dizziness, trouble with memory or sleep, and changes in reaction time or balance could be possible symptoms of a concussion.
