MURRIETA, Calif. (AP) - Fire crews have surrounded a tough-to-manage wildfire in rural Riverside County five days after it started.
The county fire department said in a statement Monday night that the blaze near Murrieta was contained and controlled after burning through 355 acres of heavy vegetation and destroying one home.
The fire broke out Wednesday when mowing equipment got tangled in barbed wire and gave off sparks.
Later that day, wind-driven flames destroyed a big two-story home in Murrieta, about 90 miles east of Los Angeles.
