The San Luis Obispo Blues closed out a winless five game road trip with a 4-3 loss to the Conejo Oaks on Thursday night. The Blues dropped 1.5 games behind the first place Oaks after dropping their sixth-consecutive road game.
The 5th ranked Blues fell to 14-11 in California Collegiate League action and 29-13 overall. The Oaks improved to 15-9 in league and 22-13 for the season.
Blake Langlois led off the bottom of the seventh inning with a solo home run off Grayson Long that proved to be the difference.
The Blues took a 2-1 lead in the fourth inning on a RBI double from Michael Pritchard that scored Aaron Attaway. The Oaks regained the lead and carried a 3-2 advantage into the sixth. But the Blues tied it at 3-3 when Blake Allemand tripled and later scored on a passed ball.
Nick Flair clubbed a solo home run in the third inning that tied the game at 1-1.
The Blues were out-hit 12-9 by the Oaks. Attaway led SLO with 3 hits in 4 at-bats. Pritchard went 2 for 4 with a RBI.
The Blues tried to mount a rally in the top of the ninth when Pritchard singled with two outs. However, Cal Poly senior-to-be Jimmy Allen struck out to end the game.
The Blues head home to open a weekend homestand. The Blues have won 7 in a row at home and gone 22-3 there this summer.They host the Santa Maria Reds at 6 pm on Friday in a non-league game before they play a crucial league game Saturday at 4pm against the Conejo Oaks. SLO hosts Santa Paula Sunday at 1pm.
