The annual Christmas Parade of Lights in Santa Maria is right around the corner and those involved want you to be aware of road closures. Road closures will take place along sections of Broadway (State Highway 135) and Stowell Road. They will be in effect before and during the parade on Saturday, December 5. Drivers are asked to obey traffic control and seek alternate routes.
The parade is organized by the Santa Maria and Nipomo Rotary Clubs. Traffic control is provided by the Santa Maria Police Department with assistance from Police Explorers and volunteers. Starting at 3:00 p.m., Stowell Road from Broadway to Depot, will be closed by the
police department. This is the area where parade entrants will be gathering. Starting at 4:00 p.m., Broadway between Enos Drive to Main Street (State Highway 166) will be closed to traffic by the police department.
The parade will begin at 5:20 p.m. and the temporary road closures will end at 8:30 p.m. There will be detour signs and law enforcement to direct traffic. In case of an emergency, the public can find police officers at the intersections of Cook and Jones Streets in order to cross Broadway.
