Rodeo time has arrived in Santa Maria. The Elks Rodeo kicked off on Thursday. It's estimated some 6,000 kids were on hand to watch the invitation-only Elks Mini Rodeo. Multiple sponsors helped to make the event fun for kids. The Santa Maria Valley Chamber of Commerce paid for small flags that were given to the youth by military members from Vandenberg Air Force Base. KSBY News talked with 6-year-old Mackenzie Taylor. She won the mutton busting competition. We asked her how she got into this. Taylor said, "It sounded fun." Organizers said the event is about entertaining and educating youngsters.
