Andy Rowley helped the Royals overcome a nine point fourth quarter deficit to stun St. Joseph 53-30 on Friday night in a thrilling battle of private school powerhouses.

The Mission Prep boys improved to 15-7 after beating the Knights for the second year in a row. The Royals are a perfect 8-0 against Central Coast teams this season. St. Joseph dropped to 15-6 overall.

The Knights led 28-22 at the half and led 37-35 after three quarters. Keith Datu scored two quick buckets and Curry Parham added another to give the Royals a nine point lead in the fourth quarter. That's when the Royals stepped it up.

The Royals cut the deficit to two when Connor Woolpert drained a three pointer to give Mission the lead by one with 1:19 to play. After the Knights missed a shot on their end, Rowley knocked down a deep 3-pointer to give Mission a 4 point lead with 49 seconds to play. Case Bruton hit a layup to cut it to two when Brandon Jones hit 1 of 2 free throws to give Mission a 3 point lead with 10 seconds to go. The Knights' Parham was fouled shooting a potential game-tying 3-point shot. He calmly knocked down the first two free throws to make it a 51-50 game. Mission head coach Terrance Harris called a time out to ice Parham and it worked. Parham's third free throw missed and Rowley grabbed the rebound and was fouled immediately. The senior point guard knocked down both free throws to give Mission a 53-50 lead with 4 seconds to play. Parham took the ball up court, but missed the backboard on his desperation 3 pointer at the buzzer.

Jones also hit two big three pointers in the second half to finish with 10 points for the Royals. Quinton Adlesh added 10 points with 6 rebounds and 4 assists for Mission.

Rowley led the Royals with 14 points.

The Royals host Immanuel at 2pm on Saturday.
