Mission Hills stormed out of the gates to take an early lead and the host Royals never recovered. The Mission Prep boys basketball team lost 62-45 in the Elite Division semifinals on Friday night at its 14th annual Christmas Classic.
The Royals fell to 6-3 on the season and finish the Classic at 4pm against Taft at 4pm on Saturday.
Mission Prep trailed 11-7 after the first quarter and trailed 27-23 at the half. They closed the gap, but things got out of control in the fourth quarter when the Royals were called for an intentional foul and a technical foul.
Connor Woolpert scored a team-high 13 points for the Royals before he fouled out. Andy Rowley added 8 points.
Mission Hills' two stars each scored 15 points. Kibret Woldemichel, a 5-8 guard, scored a majority of points from the outside, while 7-0 Pac-12 prospect Kameron Rooks dominated the inside.
Mission Hills plays Miramonte for the Elite Division championship at 7 pm on Saturday night.
