SACRAMENTO, Calif. (AP) A Sacramento County Superior Court judge is expected to rule on changes to the language of California's open-primary ballot measure.
After a four-hour hearing involving nearly a dozen lawyers Thursday, Judge Allen Sumner decided he needed more time to reflect on the wording of Proposition 14. The measure will appear on the June ballot.
Sumner said he will issue his final decision Friday.
The measure would change primaries to send the top two vote-getters, regardless of party affiliation, to the general election. Lawmakers of both major parties don't like it.
Opponents of the measure filed a lawsuit last week arguing that its current language is biased and misleading.
Both sides have threatened to appeal Sumner's ruling, which comes four days before all June ballot measures must go to print.
