S. Calif. highway closed to snow, schools closing

LOS ANGELES (AP) - The California Highway Patrol says a 35-mile stretch of Highway 58 between Bakersfield and Mojave remains closed because of a winter storm.

Hundreds of vehicles had to stop when Highway 58 was closed after the weather quickly turned white around 8 p.m. Tuesday. Road crews helped drivers exit near Tehachapi.

The CHP says no one has been injured and nobody is trapped in the snow.

Students in several areas of Southern California, including Hesperia, are getting a day off because of snow.
