SACRAMENTO, Calif. (AP) - Police say they shot and killed an armed robber who had held two women hostage at a Sacramento Jack in the Box restaurant.

The shooting came Saturday afternoon after a three-hour standoff with SWAT officers.

Two women who worked in the restaurant were held hostage, but one escaped by running outside the restaurant to waiting officers.

Police say they determine that the remaining hostage was in danger of being shot by the suspect so the officers opened fire, striking the suspect.

The remaining hostage was rescued unharmed.

The man was rushed to a hospital where he died.
