Good news for fishermen, salmon season kicks off on Saturday for the first time in three years off the California coast. It's the opening of the recreational salmon season. For sports fisherman, it's a chance to get back on the water after the conservation-driven closure.
For commercial fishermen, they might be allowed to return to sea soon if the recreational catch proves plentiful. The commercial season for salmon has yet to be scheduled.
KSBY's Monica Quintero will have more on this story and tell us how long the season will last tonight on KSBY News.
