San Diego-area wildfire destroys home, burns woman

EL CAJON, Calif. (AP) - Officials say a small wildfire in San Diego County destroyed one mobile home, damaged several others and left a woman badly burned.

Lakeside Fire Protection District Chief Andy Parr tells U-T San Diego the fire broke out in a dry creek bed Sunday and burned about 1½ acres before it was contained about 90 minutes later.

Firefighters found the burned woman along a road near flaming brush. She was taken to a hospital in critical condition. It was not immediately clear whether the unidentified woman lived in a nearby mobile home park or a homeless encampment along the creek.

The fire spread into a mobile home park, where a trailer home was destroyed and several more were burned.

A neighboring roofing business and several company vehicles were also damaged.
