The San Luis Obispo baseball team is 9-0 in league play with a big week ahead. The first place Tigers are two games ahead of second place Paso Robles in the pac-7 standings with three games against the Bearcats this week.
San Luis Obispo hasn't shown any weaknesses this season but the teams strength is definately pitching. The Tigers have only allowed 15 earned runs in 14 games. San Luis Obispo has allowed 29 runs total. "Definitely our pitching, and our defense is really sound behind them whenever they do get into trouble which is rarely. And we're getting timely hits which didn't happen last year" said senior Davey Casciola.
Casciola has pitched 13 innings this year and has a 1.08 ERA. The Tigers top two starters are seniors Louie Carlos and Marco Murrillo. Carlos has a 1.25 ERA and Murillo's is 0.82.
Offensively San Luis Obispo is being led by junior Garrett Giovanelli who is batting .500. As a team the Tigers are hitting .314.
"We got our mentality right when league started. We just started meshing really well and we've just been playing the way we should be playing" said senior Louie Summer.
"We have a confidence about us this year which is different and we never panic, we're always calm when were down" said Casciola.
San Luis Obispo hosts Paso Robles on Tuesday and Friday, the teams play in Paso Robles on Tuesday. All three games are set to start at 4:30.
