San Luis Obispo County Sheriff's Deputies searching Nipomo Mesa for missing man

Officers with the San Luis Obispo County Sheriff's Office Search and Rescue team are searching the Nipomo Mesa area for a 65-year-old man who was reported missing November 3rd. Deputies say Rafael Chavez Gonzalez was reportedly last seen October 21st at a family member's home in the 2400 block of Willow Road in the Nipomo Mesa. According to reports, Gonzalez is a known transient. Deputies say he left the property voluntarily, and he may have tried to walk back to the Oceano area. He is described as a Hispanic male, 65 years old, 5'8" tall, weighing about 165 pounds. He has gray hair, blue eyes, brown and gray facial hair, and he is a left arm amputee. He was last seen wearing blue jeans, a light blue shirt with dark stripes, a tan Dickies sweatshirt, and dark colored shoes.
