San Luis Obispo Fire Department Engine 3 responded to a 911 call of a "man down" at the corner of Pepper and Johnson, Saturday.
There, Fire Department Paramedics found a 19 year-old man in cardiac arrest.
Because two of Engine 3's crew were trained Paramedic Firefighters, they say, they were able to use multiple life-saving procedures.
The paramedics used a defibrillator to shock the man's heart.
They say he regained a pulse, and started breathing on his own while en route to French Medical Center.
The Fire Department says they were assisted by San Luis Ambulance.
