San Luis Obispo city administrators placed a firefighter who allegedly beat a man unconscious in the bathroom of a San Luis Obispo pub was placed on unpaid administrative leave back in April, according to San Luis Obispo interim Assistant City Attorney, Michael Roush.

The San Luis Obispo Police Department says John Ryan Mason beat Jory Brigham unconscious in the bathroom of Pappy McGregor's Bar in San Luis Obispo in June 2011. Brigham maintains he never touched Mason, but other witnesses described in a preliminary hearing seeing both men fighting and swinging at each other.

The trial is expected to begin in September.
