San Luis Obispo High School opened the football season on Saturday night against the defending C.I.F. Central Section Division IV champions, Kingsburg. San Luis Obispo got touchdowns from Jake Lacy and Trevor McLeod. The Tigers went ahead 15-13 on a field goal with 5:20 to play in the game.

Kingsburg won the game on the final play as quarterback Garrett Steele scrambled around for about ten seconds until he found Taylor Abernathy downfield. Abernathy got a block from a teammate to spring him for an 80 yard touchdown as the game clock expired. Kingsburg beat San Luis Obispo 19-15.
