San Luis Obispo hosts international acrobatics competition

Acrobats from around the world competed in San Luis Obispo this weekend. The Central Coast Gymnastics Sports Center hosted the 2013 Acrobatic Gymnastics Spectacular International Competition Sunday.

Nine teams from California and Canada competed in pairs and trios.

"Our sport is really showy compared to artistic gymnastics. They don't have to worry about presenting. A big part of our score is presenting and entertaining so our job is to make sure that what you think we're doing is cool," said Kristen Sanchez, a participant in the competition.

Some of the athletes at Sunday's event were preparing for the USA Gymnastics National Championships as well as the World Acrobatic Championships. Sunday's meet was the first of the season.
