San Luis Obispo man arrested for assault with a deadly weapon

A man was arrested early Sunday morning after San Luis Obispo Police Officers say he stabbed his neighbor's mother in the hand.

It happened Sunday around 1:35 a.m. at the Madonna Road Apartments in the 1500 block of Madonna Road.

Police say they responded to the apartments after receiving a call about a reported stabbing.

When they arrived, they say they found that Milton Flores, 30, and Jose Raul Garcia Jr., 27, both from San Luis Obispo, had gotten into an argument and Flores had assaulted Garcia with a knife.

Police say Garcia's mother, Maria Tafolla, 45, also from San Luis Obispo, tried to intervene and Flores stabbed her in her hand.

She was taken to the hospital where she received stitches for her injury.

Garcia and Flores were not injured.

Flores was booked in the San Luis Obispo County Jail for assault with a deadly weapon.

His bail is set at $25,000.
