San Luis Obispo police officers plead guilty to transporting drugs across the border

Two San Luis Obispo police officers remain on administrative leave after pleading guilty to a federal misdemeanor charge of transporting misbranded prescription medications across the border at the San Ysidro border crossing near San Diego.

Officers Dan McDow and Armando Limon were detained by customs and immigration enforcement on September 15, 2009. The two entered their pleas on April 28, 2010.

According to a press release issued today from the city of San Luis Obispo, the officers will not be required to serve jail time and will be on unsupervised probation for one year.

The city is conducting a separate personnel investigation in compliance with the Peace Officers' Bill of Rights. McDow and Limon will remain on leave until the city has finished its investigation.
