Santa Barbara County Fire Department welcomes new member

The Santa Barbara County Fire Department has a new fire investigator, a black Labrador Retriever named Riley. Riley is an Accelerant Detection Canine. He and his handler, Fire Captain/Investigator Howard Orr, were recently certified by the Maine Criminal Justice Academy after completing a five-week course sponsored by State Farm Insurance. The Fire Department says the two have already responded to 11 fire scenes throughout Santa Barbara County since their arrival on September 6. The Fire Department says costs for the Arson Dog Program are supported by community donations. Anyone wishing to make a donation can send it to the Santa Barbara County Fire Department Arson Dog Program at 4410 Cathedral Oaks Road, Santa Barbara, CA 93110.
